A dark anime with grown-up characters and grown-up plots, Speed Grapher is obviously for adults. Most of the main characters have interesting, if convoluted, pasts, and are nicely flawed. The various villains have creative and interesting fetish/powers and opens the door for other ideas. Aside from the lack of noses on most characters most of hte time and two-dimensional hair, the art and animation is also nicely above average. Unfortunately, all of the interesting, superpowered villains and the few protagonists they introduce after the second episode are obvious throwaway characters, and it can get tedious to watch episode after episode with a villain du jour and know that no one but the main three or four characters matter at all.
Yaoi within the series isn’t particularly hard, and with the rampant social corruption and sexual fetishes it could be very interesting.
