It’s hard not to feel good when reading such a cute series. The heroine is adorable and hard not to like, unless you’re the type of person who hates everything and kicks kittens, and as always CLAMP’s art is very nice (with the exception of the strange convention of super-wide shoulders on even the skinny guys). The characters are all interesting, and generally at least a little strange, which keeps them from being too stereotypical. Unfortunately, all of the male characters are perpetually in the background, and even after reading the whole series it’s hard to get a good grasp on the characters of anyone but Sakura, Kero, and Syaoran; the more interesting characters unfortunately come off as a little flat, and it’s hard to imagine them in situations that would take them out of the one or two emotions they usually show.
The fact that there is canon shounen ai is a huge plus to the series, in fangirl-dom. It certainly makes writing yaoi that much easier.
